Got up at 6:15 to make our 6:30 hotel breakfast time, but noticed a story online and spent half an hour writing it up and scheduling it for later in the day. Missed the breakfast buffet as a result, and got some food at one of the hotel shops instead (a scone and a cinnamon bun). Drove to a ferry and left for our ferry ride to catalina island.

The trip to the island took over an hour. We had seats at the very top, and the wind coupled with the weather made the trip pretty miserable for us. Tried to keep warm using our beach towels. Raymond had his free hat from yesterday blown into the ocean by a strong puff of wind.

After arriving, we got wetsuits and spent 40 minute snorkeling. The water was cold at first, but we got used to it soon enough. The first time I peeked my head into the water, I was extremely surprised by the fact that gigantic fish were swimming around all around me. The time passed pretty quickly, and we had to leave just as we were getting a hang of it.

Went to lunch from there. I got fish and chips, while most of the others got burgers.

We spent the afternoon on a 2 hour tour of catalina island on an open air hummer. Got to take in some fantastic views of the area from up on the hills.

The ferry ride back to mainland was much better. We sat on third level again, but got seats on this blue padded area that allowed us to have soft back rests and stretch out. Most importantly, we had most of the wind blocked behind us, making the ride very enjoyable.

Had dinner at a grill restaurant after getting back and resting for an hour. Got a really good ribeye.
