Woke up at 6 this morning to make sure our home’s internet isn’t broken. Ate a little breakfast, finished packing, and left for sac international at 7:15 for my 9:20 flight. It’s the first time I’ve ever flown by myself. Loaded my carryon luggage into the X-ray machine incorrectly and delayed my line for about 10-15 minutes while the employees poked the machine with a pole to try and dislodge it.

The flight went very smoothly and passed quickly. It’s amazing how quickly you can get down to socal if you fly.

Landed on time at orange county’s airport, and then got picked up about half an hour later by olympus guys.

Checked into the hyatt huntington beach resort, but they didn’t have any rooms ready for us. Ate a dinner in the meantime, and then put my bags into charles’ room before heading out to the beach for an afternoon of shooting. We spent the time at the US Open of Surfing, mainly in a VIP section overlooking the beach.

Went back to the hotel in the late afternoon, took a shower, and then met up for a “meeting” with some other journalists and olympus.

From there we went to dinner at a place called Dukes. The food was amazing, and we went out to shoot the sunset between appetizers and dinner. Got prime rib. Medium rare.

Was fun talking to other bloggers and photography/gadget journalists. Learned about Google’s “panda” effort — something I had never paid attention to before. Maybe I’ll start thinking more about search engine optimization…
