New 35mm Prime September 20, 2011

Bought a Canon 35mm 1.4 lens that I spotted on craigslist off a guy from sacramento. We met at the pole line baptist church parking lot near my house where I like to meet people for craigslist transactions. Took a photo for dit while I was there as well.
I think this’ll be the lens I keep on my camera 99% of the time. I might sell one or two of my other lenses, with my 16-35mm and 24mm f/2.8 at the top of the list. I’m loving this 35mm so far — I definitely think it’s the perfect focal length for my everyday photography, and the f/1.4 is absolutely crazy in terms of low light capability. I was able to photograph at ISO 400 tonight at prayer meeting while still shooting at 200ths of a second.
The colors captured through the lens are vibrant, and the lens is pretty darn sharp even when shooting wide open. Bought a B+W UV filter off eBay after getting home — I’m not going to go cheap on a UV filter this time, since it’d be sad to buy a sharp lens only to put some cheap glass in front of it. The Canon filter I use with my zoom lenses is decent, except when shooting at night sometimes I get these weird green light “ghosts”. Pretty sure the B+W filter won’t have that problem.
