Today was election day 2008. I followed the election intermittently throughout the day while I was in class. By early evening, it was pretty clear that Obama was going to win, since Florida and Ohio were pretty much locked up for him. After prayer meeting, there was incessant honking on the street outside...

Some guys came home and told me that things were going crazy on telegraph. After shooting some photographs on film for my portrait assignment, I grabbed my 20d and ran over to telegraph and durant.

Things were pretty much out of control.

It was so crowded that it was pretty much impossible to cross the intersection diagonally. People were climbed up on every pole in sight, and were climbing up the trees as well. Some people blew whistles and swung around wooden noisemakers, while other people lit fireworks. It started with small and loud fireworks that sounded like machine guns, progressed into flare looking fireworks that shot across the sky, and finally became really out of control when someone shot off a commercial firework that looked just like what you'd see on the 4th of july.

It seemed like half the people on the street were drinking or smoking marijuana. Every so often a person would be hoisted above the crowd, and would crowd-surf for a short while before almost falling on their heads, only to be grabbed at the last moment.

I took 159 photographs, and then ran home to continue studying for my midterm on thursday.

I found out this morning that I made it to the interview stage of the 5th year program application process. Praise God. The interview is next monday at 3:15pm, and will last 15 minutes. I also found out tonight that Albert was already accepted into his program, which is an almost identical program in mechanical engineering.
