Stayed home with my brother today until his tennis match at 1:30pm. My mom went to Roger's tennis shop in the afternoon and bought some tennis balls and a ball pressurizer for me before picking my brother up at 3 something. In the evening my brother, dad, and I went to chestnut park and played for a while.
My camera, a Sony DSC-P200, is getting quite old and used. It's about three years old now, but since I've taken photographs every day from the day I purchased it, it's probably a lot more worn than most three year old cameras. Lately the zoom has been having issues. During our trip to canada, the lens part of the camera wouldn't go back into the body and froze in the "out" position, whether or not the camera was on. Furthermore, because of this problem, the camera wouldn't operate, and simply told me to turn the camera off and turn it on again.
Basically, the camera was dead as long as it was stuck like that. I thought the camera was dead, but tried twisting the lens element with my hand while turning it on and off. Suddenly, after a click and a turn, it started working again. The only issue was that the camera would not zoom past 1.3x magnification.
When I was at tennis, I extended the zoom to 1.3x magnification, and then tried to take a photo. Suddenly, the camera froze and got stuck in that position again. I guess I just can't take zoomed photos with it anymore. I tried fixing the camera at the tennis court, but nothing worked. Finally, I put it in my bag and left it alone until I got home.
At about 9pm, I took out some mini-screwdrivers and opened up the lens element. I turned the camera on and off, and rotated the element a little every time. After a few cycles of that, it was miraculously fixed again. I'm just going to be careful about not zooming with this camera. Hopefully it'll work fine as long as I don't ever use zoom.
