We arrived at the Victoria port at 7:30 this morning to park our car in the standby queue for a chance to take the 10:30 ferry to Port Angeles, Washington. After parking the car, we had an hour and a half before the customs officer arrived to walk around the city and eat breakfast somewhere.

We walked over to chinatown but found all the food places still closed. My brother and I ended up eating pancakes and french toast at a place just outside chinatown, and my parents got bagels at Starbucks across the street.

After eating, we quickly rushed back to the port and sat in our until the customs officer arrived, asked us a few questions, and put a piece of paper on our windshield. A little before 10:30am, the ferry arrived and we got a car spot near the back of one of the lines.

The ferry ride to Washington was about 90 minutes long, and we played cards most of the way there. The ferry was smaller than the one we rode to get from Vancouver to Vancouver Island, so it swayed and rocked much more. Also, unlike the other ferry, we weren't allowed to go to the cars during the voyage.

Once we were in Washington, we passed through a customs checkpoint, and then drove to Hurricane Ridge. We sat near an old lady during the ferry trip, and during a conversation she told us that Hurricane Ridge was a place we needed to visit as we passed through the area.

It turned out that the Hurricane Ridge trip cost $15 dollars and about an hour both ways. However, despite the long, windy drive and the numerous delays due to road construction, the views at Hurricane Ridge were breathtaking and definitely worth it all. Since we didn't have much time, we climbed a little, took some pictures, climbed back down, and started for Portland.

We got to Portland in three or four hours, and went to a Hometown buffet for dinner, but found out that it was closing. They offered to give us twenty five minutes to eat, but we decided to go to Panda Express instead. Tomorrow we're driving straight back to Davis.
