The first place we visited this morning was the Vancouver Flea Market, a giant indoor flea market that costs 75 cents a person just to get in. We browsed around for a good while right after it opened, but didn't see anything reasonably priced or desirable, and many of the sellers hadn't arrived yet, so we left.
From there we drove to the Tsawwassen Port to take a ferry to Vancouver Island on our way to Victoria. We paid a little less than a hundred dollars for fare and the price of taking our car across the channel. We got into line, parked our car there, and walked around for an hour and a half.
Finally a voice called us back to our cars, and we slowly filed into the giant ferry, called "Queen of Victoria" or "Queen of Vancouver" or something like that.
The ride to Swartz Bay was smooth and pretty relaxing. Once we were there, we drove straight to Victoria and checked in to the place we're staying. After we had checked in, we drove back in the direction of the port in Sydney and went to Butchart Gardens, the world famous gardens near Victoria.
We spent the rest of the day walking around in the beautiful gardens, waiting for the firework display at 10pm. Butchart gardens has multiple gardens that you can visit, including the sunken garden, rose garden, japanese garden, and italian garden. They're each very unique and beautiful in different ways.
Early on in the way we went to the fireworks viewing area and put down our blanket to reserve a spot. About an hour before the 10pm show, we went to our blanket and played cards for an hour. The show started with a single flare type of thing accompanied by music, which grabbed everyone's attention.
I'm not sure how to describe the fireworks show except that it was probably the best fireworks show I've ever seen. If I describe too much of it, I might spoil it for people who haven't seen it before. If you ever been to the fourth of july fireworks show in davis: the finale of the davis show is like the warmup for the buchart gardens show.
After the show there was a massive human and car traffic jam, since the garden only has a single entrance.
