We left Portland and drove to Seattle this morning, visiting the Portland International Rose Test Garden on the way. The drive took about two or three hours. Once we got to Seattle, we unloaded our stuff at the family friend’s house we’re going to be staying at, and then went out to take a look at Seattle.
We walked around Pike Market, and got to see the original Starbucks store. From there we went and visited the Seattle Space Needle, going all the way to the top to have a nice 360 degree view of Downtown Seattle.
The family friend picked us up afterwards, and took us out to a buffet dinner.
There was fish selling for astronomical prices in the fish market, and we couldn't figure out why. Certain things were hundreds of dollars for a pound or two.
The house we’re staying at is in a location built on top of a hill. Driving to it was a crazy experience, and many of the roads leading to the house felt steeper than anything I’ve seen before.
The house belongs to my Dad’s old friend from his graduate school years. They were really, really close friends back in the day, around the time I was born. However, once they both came to America, they lost touch for about twenty years.
