Greetings from Life U! Thursday was our full day of instruction. Team members are enjoying their time teaching in their classes and getting to know the children. Our International school team (preK-1st) got to go on parents visitation with the teachers. One team (Jackie and Alisa) visited a family whose house is built over the ocean. When they walked in, through the cracks in between the wooden floor, they can see the ocean. The father of the twins who attends Life U shared with them how he is barely making ends to send his sons to Life U because he heard great things about school. Alisa shared her testimony which talked how her parents as immigrant to US worked so hard to provide the need of their children and how she hardly saw them at home. The father told her that I can relate to that story and she was so thankful because that morning during the prayer time she shared with the sisters how she felt holding back in engaging with people because she felt they can't relate to her story. Michelle Kwak and her partner visited a mother who Michelle was able to talk for two hours because she wanted to know what is Christianity. The mother learned English in high school so Michelle was able to use simple English to share about God's story from Genesis to NT! At the end of the talk, she was so thankful and happy that Michelle visited her and told her that she is glad that her child is going to Life U learning about God and getting good education. Michelle came back so excited because she too felt very insecure about what can she offer during this trip and God answered her prayer directly by providing her an opportunity to just share what she know about God. Our soccer game with the Life U students was canceled due to rain. I feel like the weather announcement during one of the Joyland skit about the plague: how the meteorologist reported "Today it is dark, tomorrow it will be dark, actually all week we will encounter darkness". It has been rain, rain and more rain. There are times it rained so hard that we couldn't see anything around because it formed a water blanket in front of us. With humidity, everything feels damp all around us. There are no hot water and no shower due to water problem in our rooms so brothers have to take cold water bath using little bucket from a large tub that we need to make sure it is filled with water because we don't have running water all the time. After dinner, we had a special talk time with the college students again. After last night of get to know us time, many of them came back to join us. There were over 100 students came again to listen to the testimonies by David Kim, Anna Lui, Ashley Yang, Jeremiah Lin and Sang as our very own talk show host Jesse Kim interviewed them. Pastor Ji Won who is the head of the theology department translated for us and we were thankful that the students remained engaged the whole time. After the talk, we divided small groups into Christians and non-Christians and for non-Christians, we had prepared small group questions based on the testimony they heard and had further time of discussion while few of us met up with Christians at a different room by brothers and sisters separated and talked about the importance of journaling and daily devotion as a mean to have a closer relationship with God each day, equipping and training them to one day face a giant like David did. Through the small group time with the non-Christian college students, most of our members got to share their stories and answered questions about Christianity. One student started the discussion saying that he doesn't believe in God and proceeded to ask questions which Sang and other brothers answered and at the end he actually asked if Sang can pray for the group! Another long and exhausted day came to an end. Though we were physically tired, but the stories that I've reported that we heard during the wrap up time really strengthen us and energized us to not let up for next day because any one of us can have an divine encounter with someone. Please pray for our Friday activity which just started (it is 7:30am right now). We have all day of instruction/chapel time/special activities plus we are dividing into two teams to visit two village missions where we will be spending the night. We will be giving our team presentation of skit, special song, testimony and message for adults and also a program for children. Reporting from Sihoukville... CAM 1
