Jum reap sua! At the end of the first full day at Life U, all we said to each other is that "What? We've been here just one day?" "This is only our first full day here?" That basically sum up how our first day. Our day started at 5:30am, getting ready for breakfast at 6am. Tim Choi claims that a rat was on him during the night which he woke up in loud scream that woke everyone else (by the way, he had three encounters with rat already and we call him the " "). After breakfast, secondary team got ready for chapel time while other teams got ready for first class. Everyone was filled with mix of excitement and nervousness as we walked into our assigned rooms. Each of our members will be given an opportunity to teach during the chapel time while we are here. We gave our first day of chapel in each of the four schools with the title of "God is one and true God". Each team came up with interesting skits and other elements to convey how our there is no other God like our God. After morning chapel and classes, we got together in our team room to have our worship and focus time where we got to share from DT, worship through hymns and praises and prayed the day's schedule together. Rest of the mornings were filled with our team members leading classes in English, Korean and Chinese. We are using English classes in Secondary and College to have discussion time over what they heard from the morning chapel time. After lunch, we joined the theology major students to go on door to door evangelism at near by village. This was the highlight of the most of the team members as we went door to door and shared our testimony with the families we have visited. It was amazing how each family we've visited were so receptive to our visit and our sharing unlike in US. Most of the families were very poor and barely sustaining their daily life. One household we visited was a mom with two young sons living in a space that is about 4' x 4'. Everywhere was filled with trashes and kids running with no clothes, shoes, it really made us appreciate and thankful for all that we have. One of the team encounter a young man who told our team that he was so thankful that he was able to hear story about God and Christianity. Another family I visited had a 14 years old who seemed to have down syndrome and at the end of our visit, we asked if we can pray for the child and mom and grandma seemed surprised and said ok. We walked up to the child and held the child's hand and prayed. Mom and the grandma was very pleased that we prayed for the child. I reminded the mom that this child is precious to God. The scenes of the poverty and the receptive of the people along with the experience of walking in pouring rain with ponchos on will definitely remain deep in our mind for years to come. Coming back to Life U, our members ran to our next class to teach special activity time with the primary students. We lead classes such drum, drama, rhythmic gymnastic, magic, chemistry, art/craft and English. We all laughed when we found out from Sang, our resident magician, that when he announced the students to bring deck of cards to learn card trick next week, the teacher whisper to him that it was against school rule to possess playing cards. After school is over, we had a mandatory rest/nap time before dinner so we can be ready for the "get to know us" time with college students. To our surprise, over 100 students came as we played human bingo, show off our stupid human tricks and had a wonderful time of laughing and talking with one another. Life U staff was saying how they have never saw the students open up like that in front of one another. We invited all of them to return next night for special talk time. The day ended with wrap up time where we shared our wins, things we are thankful for and people and stories from our visitation. We prayed together for next day's chapel speakers and broke into ministry team to discuss next day's chapel program. Indeed this has been one long day and the damp environment with rain can really bring down our energy level at times but we are thankful as we shared during the DT time that it is in Him that we are able to accomplish all things and as long as we remain in Him, He will carry us through. Tomorrow we have full day of classes and at night we are going to have a special talk time with non-Christian college students where we will do panel style testimony sharing by couple of our team members and then break into small group to further share our stories and also a time with Christian students in small groups sharing about importance of journaling and DT to deeper reflect on the Word of God each day to help us relate to our God personally. Thank you for your prayers! CAM1 Team.
