I made a few small "steps of faith" this morning. After waking up, I went and deactivated my Facebook account. It wasn't providing very much utility anyway, so I'm glad all the negatives aren't an issue anymore. The second thing I did was delete a lot of non-Christian music off my computer and iPod.

I also filled my iPod with Christian podcasts from Ravi Zacharias, Tim Keller, Gracepoint, and some others. I found that there's actually TONS of time throughout the day I normally don't use, such as the time I spend walking around to different classes. By the end of the day, I had listened to a large number of things.

I didn't really come to any of these decisions on my own, but was inspired by certain people around me. The Facebook deactivation was a result of seeing Steve Plouffe and Sang deactivate theirs.

Last night, while studying at main stacks, John Cai walked over and looked at my iPod, on which Radiohead was playing. Radiohead isn't really bad, but it made me realize that I still did have music on my computer and iPod that wasn't very a very good witness. I asked John whether he only listens to Christian music now, and he told me that he mostly does. Thus, I decided to delete a large majority of the secular music I own (and purchased through the years).

The third thing (listening to podcasts to maximize time utilization) is something Joseph has done for quite a while, and something I've wanted to do but never got around to because of complacency. I'm very glad I did now, and would highly recommend this practice to anyone. You'd be surprised how much you can listen to in a day using only the time you normally spend zoning out or thinking about random stuff.

These three things, and a few other things from before, have definitely positively impacted my life. As I was thinking this morning about some of the ways I've already been blessed by recent commitments, Romans 12 came to mind:

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:1-2

This verse is a unique promise of blessing, just as the fifth commandment of honoring your father and mother is.

In other news, I had my database midterm today at 12:30. I'm really not sure how it went, so I'll have to wait until it's graded to know anything for sure.

I now have a project I need to work on, a problem set due friday, and my algorithms midterm next monday.

In the evening, we had a guest speaker (Dr. Thom Wolf) in lieu of prayer meeting. The message, regarding spiritual warfare, lasted until about 10.

From there, we had some food at asian ghetto and then went home. We were originally going to go to main stacks to work, but the prayer meeting went longer than we expected.

From 5-6, I had a group advising session in Soda Hall. Basically, we were given pizza and soda, and talked with other students for an hour discussing our current classes and next semesters classes. At the end, we were given the code we need to register for classes, and that was it.
