Rain And Limbo

The weather was pretty nasty, with rain pouring down heavily throughout the day. Unlike the previous few days, the clouds never opened up temporarily to allow us any glimpse of the blue sky. The rain caused huge puddles in various places I had to walk, and I accidentally stepped in one of them early in the day.
As I was walking to my artificial intelligence lab, I hesitated when crossing the street, then decided not to in order to avoid getting hit by a bus. This hesitation caused me to plant my left foot squarely in the puddle that sat in the area between the street and the sidewalk. I immediately felt the water soak into my sock, and thought to myself, "it's over." Luckily, the extent of the damage was minimal, and I was able to go home and change shortly after.
Ate a calzone for dinner. In the evening, I went to Dwinelle to help the bible study setup. After bible study, while we were doing take-down, the fire alarm suddenly went off, and we had to walk outside to escape the ear-splitting sound.
From there, we went over to the lounge of one of the dorms in Unit 1, and had post-bible study fellowship with the guys. We were originally supposed to go to Alameda, but the weather caused a change of plans.
We played a question game in groups, in which each group has to come up with the correct answer to questions like, "Who is the tallest between x, y, or z?", "Do x, y, z or a, b, c, d weigh more as groups?", "Who has the largest waist?", "Who can do the most pushups in 45 seconds?", "Who can limbo?".
The group that came up with the correct answers won "points" and candy. Joseph won the pushup contest with a ridiculous number of pushups. The contest I participated in was the limbo contest, which ended up being the last thing we did before we ended.
After the games, Joseph and I drove back to Davis, arriving at about midnight.
Devotion time notes:
Romans 15 (continued)
Paul is in Greece at the time of writing this, and expresses his desire to visit the believers of the Roman church. He hopes to make a stop in Rome to visit the church on his way to Spain, which is a place farther than he goes on any of his three missionary journeys. This shows his passion for the furtherance of the gospel, since he is eager to travel to the far side of the known world to do so.
As we now know, despite Paul's heart, it ended up not being God's will for him to peacefully make a stop in Rome on his way to Spain. He probably never went to Spain, and was instead taken to Rome as a prisoner and stayed there as such.
We should faithfully pray for one another in our struggles and difficulties, asking that God deliver us from sin and those who seek to hinder us in our service for God. One of the great ways we can demonstrate our love for one another is by praying for one another in all circumstances.
