This morning I woke up to 50+ MPH winds and heavy rain. I started doing my devotions, but suddenly the power was knocked out a few minutes in. We never regained power throughout the whole day, so we stumbled around in relative darkness during the day, and then pulled out candles and flashlights at night.

The army men pictures look bright because they were taken with longer exposures.

A few doors down, the tree in the front yard had completely blown over, but luckily for them it landed in their driveway and not their house.

After 4 or 5pm, it became completely dark, so we had a really early bedtime.

Devotion time notes

Romans 4

It was not what Abraham did that justified him, but it was the faith behind his works that was credited

to him as righteousness. If he had just heard and not acted, he would not have been deemed righteous. If he had just acted and not believed, he would not have been deemed righteous either.

Righteousness is not something that God owes us, but is instead a gift he bestows upon us as a result of faith. It is not by our works or good deeds that he owes us anything, but it is by our faith that we have the hope of being deemed righteous by him. Our works cannot make us righteous, for all have sinned and fall short of his glory, what what can make us righteous is faith alone in Christ alone.
