Joseph, anna and I all went to sunday service at DC^3 today, so we had a mini-reunion. We haven't seen each other very often since college started, so occasionally when we all make it to the same sunday service it's pretty cool. Afterwards we all went out to eat, but it had to be fast so we went to carls jrs.

In the evening my family went to chestnut park to get some exercise. I threw a football around with my brother for a while, then played some tennis with him.

On the way home, we saw a guitar sitting among some other furniture outside an apartment. Everything outside the apartment was for sale, and the price indicated on a piece of paper was "best offer". Long story short, we ended up buying the guitar for $4. It's a Sigma brand guitar, which is a sub-brand of Martin, but it's also slightly beat up.

An interesting quote I heard from anna wei-wei today: "We're Christians who happen to be students, not students who happen to be Christians."

Here's another interesting thing anna shared today during sunday school: "An idol is something we want so badly we would be willing to sin to get it."

During sunday school today I came across two verses I'd like to share here.

The first is a verse we should all know and be able to reference...

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9

The second is beautiful, and the song "Hail to the King" is based on it:

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:5-11

acutally, wei-wei said the Christian quote...and then I said that I've heard that before, but a little differently like this, "Are you a woman that is a Christian, or a Christian that is a woman?"

I suppose you could put it like this for guys: "Are you a man that is a Christian, or a Christian that is a man?"

bottom line -- We're Christians first, everything else second!

it was good seeing everyone at church wasn't it? =)
