I have two midterms tomorrow, so today was my final full day of studying for them. I studied at main stacks with sean and dustin starting at noon, and spent most of the day studying for computer science. In the evening we took a break and went to lotus house for dinner. Derrick's friend was visiting and ate with us.

We returned to the stacks and studied until 1am. I spent the rest of the time finishing up my studying for econ.

Devotion time questions:

Zechariah 6

What does the eighth vision of Zechariah reveal about the judgment of God?

His judgement is just, falling on everyone who sins and not just a select few. The chariots of judgement go throughout the whole earth. He is also mighty and strong, capable of delivering the judgement. Verses 1-6 state twice that the horses are powerful.

When I was reading these verses, I thought to myself, "Where's the chariot with the red horse?". This passage only mentions what three of the chariots do. However, I realized that it could be implicitly implied that the red horse goes to the east country. Interesting...

Then I started thinking how much ink the writer of Zechariah saved the world by leaving out the extra sentence from this passage.

Anyhow, moving on...

What is revealed through this passage about who is the true and ultimate lord of the world?

The chariots that bring judgement to the whole world went forth from standing in the presence of God. He is the "Lord of the whole world," and brings judgement even on the most powerful of empires and the most famous of conquerors.

Reflect on the reality that there will be a judgment at the end and that God, the Lord of the world will ultimately be victorious. How should I live my life given this reality?

I should live a life that reflects this reality, by giving my life for God and striving to keep myself sinless before him. With such a clear picture of how things are and what is to come, sinning intentionally against God is foolishness.

Reflect on the fact that Jesus is both ultimate high priest and king, savior and Lord. How do these roles of Jesus relate to me personally?

As Savior, Jesus redeemed me with his blood. As Lord, he requires that I be fully obedient to his will.
