Woke up early this morning to walk to dwinelle and turn in my economics problem set with the guys. I then walked back to the apartment and slept for a couple more hours. The only thing I went to today was computer science lab. Aside from that I studied in main stacks and in my apartment in the evening.

Most of the other dwight k1 juniors went to their church 101 dinner at manny's house.

Devotion time questions:

Zechariah 3

Reflect on the picture of Joshua, the high priest, dressed in filthy clothes, with “Satan standing at his right side to accuse him.” How is this a picture of me?

Though I am a Christian, I am also a sinner who is naturally "dressed in filthy clothes" in need of God's mercy and forgiveness.

What does this passage tell me about listening to the voice of accusation when I feel remorse for my sins?

When we have confessed our sins before God, we can rebuke the voice of accusation as God did, for he has forgiven us and declared us as righteous before him.

Reflect on the imagery of a “burning stick snatched from the fire.” In what way does this describe God’s work in my life?

Perfectly. As Paul says in 1 Timothy 1,

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Though I am the worst of sinners, God, out of his infinite grace and mercy, saved me from the fire.

Notice that Joshua himself just stands in the presence of God, and it is God who rebukes Satan, and who puts new, “rich garments” on him, taking away his sin. In what ways have I been given new rich garments from God? Spend time thanking God for taking away my sin and replacing them with new garments.

Thoughts omitted here.

After taking off Joshua’s filthy clothes which were his priestly attire, God reinstates his priestly function by putting a clean turban on his head and gives him authority and a new mission. How has my role in others’ lives changed after I’ve received forgiveness of sin and been clothed in righteousness?

Thoughts omitted here.

What is the reward of walking in God’s ways, and keeping His requirements?

God will give us responsibility and opportunities to serve him.

What increases in responsibilities have I been given as I continue to walk in God’s ways and keep his requirements?

Thoughts omitted here.

How has this vision of the Lord’s “servant, the Branch” who will “remove the sin of this land in a single day” become a reality through Jesus Christ?

Christ came and washed away our sins "in a single day" through his death on the cross. We're not sinless now, but all we need to do is believe and repent, and God will look upon us as if we have the righteousness of Christ.

Spend time thanking God that I have been a recipient of such an amazing, life-transforming Gospel.

Thoughts omitted here.
