Alameda Dinner

I slept early last night, and woke up pretty late today, so I think I did a lot of catching up on sleep. However, I had a persistent headache throughout the day, so I was pretty lethargic and mellow. I thought it might be a warning sign of impending sickness, but as of writing this the symptoms have gone away.
The two things on campus I had today were computer science lab and economics discussion. Before discussion, I learned from Sean on the phone that there was food at the Y, so I hurried over and had some of the meat, potato, and white radish. I forget what it's called...
I studied for a few hours in main stacks and then went to Manny's house in Alameda at 7pm for dinner. We had a church 101 dinner with the people signed up for today.
Afterwards, Tommy, Stephan, Steve, Annie, Cathy and I went to Steve Suh's house to help with the dance moves for thanksgiving celebration. We ended up playing basketball upstairs on this double hoop arcade style type of thing.
I'm hoping tomorrow I won't have any symptoms of sickness.
I found out today through the DailyCal the reason I saw Indian people shooting a film on telegraph yesterday. The paper said:
Bollywood dancers in front of California Hall shoot a scene for the new Indian film ‘Vaaranam Ayiram’—or ‘A Thousand Elephants’—in which a lovestruck character follows the girl of his dreams from India to UC Berkeley. The film began shooting on campus last week and will continue until the end of the month.
Devotion time questions:
Malachi 1
What is the cry of God’s heart as demonstrated in these verses?
He desires for his people to reciprocate the love and devotion he has shown them, and to honor him appropriately for who he is.
In what ways did the people show contempt for God’s name? What does this reveal about their view of God?
They place defiled food on the altar, sacrificing blind, crippled, and diseased animals to God while keeping acceptable animals themselves. It shows that they had a disrespect for God, as if he could not tell the difference between what they offered him. It might be personal selfishness, or it might be the same thing Ananias and Sapphira did in Acts 5.
What is revealed in people’s response “How have we shown contempt for you name?” What may explain this kind of blindness?
Either they already knew of it but refused to acknowledge it, or their selfishness towards their possessions caused them to justify what they were doing somehow.
Are there ways in which I am offering up “blind animals for sacrifice” and “crippled or diseased animals” to God?
Thoughts omitted here.
How does this passage challenge any notion that I can withhold things without God’s notice? To what extent does God take my words and actions seriously?
Nothing can escape God's eyes, even when we secretly offer things that seem acceptable to other people but are not. He takes these things very seriously, and even pronounces a curse upon people who have acceptable offerings but instead offer something of lesser quality (v. 14).
In what ways have I been viewing sacrifice to God as a burden, engaging in complaints and cheating Him of what He rightfully deserves?
Thoughts omitted here.
How am I going to respond to God who says “For I am a great king…and my name is to be feared among the nations?” What vows have I made to God that I need to not back out on?
Thoughts omitted here.
