Brought my big camera onto campus today for the first time. On the way into campus I passed by an acapella group, and then a person with a big sign that proclaimed Islam's abuse of women. I spent the afternoon on campus, then spent the rest of the day at home. I got a fair amount of work done today.
I've been testing the focus on my camera, and I think it might be front focusing... I need to run some more tests to make sure it's not my lenses, and if those show that it's the camera body's fault, I'm going to try and physically tweak the camera to fix the focusing problem.
Devotion time questions:
Micah 1
Why should all the peoples listen to Micah’s “vision he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem”?
Though Samarai and Jerusalem were the direct recipients of the judgement in the vision he saw, everyone on earth can learn from the mistakes that were made and learn from them, avoiding the same judgement themselves.
What message am I to hear through God’s judgment toward Samaria?
The dangers of setting up idols in our lives, putting God out of the picture.
Reflect on the picture of judgment when God finally decides to act.
God wipes out the sinful cities and the objects of sinfulness that they clung to. Though the people probably trusted in the idols for protection and prosperity, God breaks them to pieces and has their temples burned, showing that they were worthless all along.
God detests idols and decides to wipe out Israel in order to destroy all of the idols that captivate people’s hearts. Why does God hate idols to this extent? What does this say regarding God’s love for me?
Idols take up God's place in people's hearts, making them believe they have no need for anything but the idols. In reality, all we need is God, and God is willing to destroy a nation and exile them in order to bring the hearts of the people back to himself and to salvation.
