Tonight was Koinonia's RSF night, where the whole fellowship rents out the RSF for a sporting event. Our K1 was given setup and take down duties today, so we helped set up for two hours before the bible study. Todd came to the bible study and RSF night too, and we all drove back together to davis afterwards.
Devotion time questions:
2 Samuel 13
How did Amnon deal with this illicit desire?
He chose to become frustrated to the point of illness, then took sinful action.
What is the significance of Jonadab’s conversation with Amnon? What did his shrewd advice result in, specifically for Tamar?
Jonadab's advice resulted in Amnon falling into sin, Tamar being raped, Absalom murdering his brother, and the weakening of the kingdom of Israel.
Is there some way I fail to recognize the victims involved when I’m pursuing my illicit desires?
Considering the events of chapters 11 and 12, what are some ways that Amnon may have rationalized his own desires?
If Amnon knew about David and Bathsheba, he could have rationalized his own actions by saying he didn't commit murder like David did.
What should Amnon have done?
He could have chosen a better advisor, or even gone to David with his problems. Instead he sought counsel from a shrewd man.
