Music lecture, computer science discussion, then econ discussion. There was some sort of thing going on in sproul plaza. I studied with dit for about half and hour in bear's lair. In the evening I had dinner with Henry, my small group leader, at a place on telegraph avenue. Twas both healthy and delicious.

We each had a whole bowl of salad and a sandwich on wheat bread. I never knew so much salad could be so good.

In the evening I went to prayer meeting for the first time. It was a good experience. The testimonies presented afterwards during Gracepoint Monthly were good too.

Devotion time questions:

2 Samuel 4

What kind of man is Ish-Bosheth?

A man who did not rely on God as the source of his courage.

What are some ways in which people take refuge in things that cause them to be a slave to fear?

People might take refuge in wealth, but live a fearful existence worrying about the security of their money. Some might take refuge in power, but worry about being replaced. Others might take refuge in fame, but constantly worry about their public image.

What kind of men were Baanah and Recab?

Wicked men who sought glory and rewards for themselves under the false pretense of serving the king.

Is there any way I am like them?

I need to remember to not seek (even subconsciously) any personal recognition for serving in church.

Reflect on the final outcome of Saul’s descendants. What can I learn about the consequence of Saul’s disobedience toward God?

Saul's descendants were pretty much cut off from the face of the earth, and even the ones who survived were dropped and accidentally crippled.

How is it that David feels no joy from the death of the one man who now stood between him and the throne?

Because God did not instruct him to take care of Ish-Bosheth, David is angry that others decided to take the matter into their own hands instead of waiting for God to deal with it.
