I went to economics 100a for the first time today with my housemates. The professor is from france, and can be a little hard to follow at times. Sean, joseph, and derrick all fell asleep during class. Afterwards I had music with Sang, and he fell asleep too. My last thing on campus was section from 2-3.

I spent much of the day doing homework and projects.

We added money information and characters to our money whiteboard today.

In the evening, our small group went out to eat. Derrick found a place that just opened that was selling everything on its menu for a dollar, but when we got there they were sold out already. We walked over to a different place called Kimchi Garden and ate there.

When we got back to he apartment, I worked some more, and our household spent a lot of time cleaning up the apartment and making things look nice.

Devotion time questions:

1 Samuel 29

What kind of dilemma did David’s shrewd manipulation of enemies get him into?

David put himself into a situation where he potentially had to fight on the side of his enemies against his own people.

How did God spare him? What can I learn from the fact that the Philistine commanders’ distrust of him worked in David’s favor?

God spared him by making the Philistine commanders not trust David, taking away the possibility of David fighting the Israelites. God works in mysterious ways for the good of his people, even through their enemies.

Reflect on how this entire distasteful chapter of David’s life began. What lesson about trusting in God can I learn from this?

This all began when David fled to the Philistines and saught refuge with Achish, putting his trust in men rather than in God.
