Pool Baseball

The icebreakers that we've had before worship and messages during this camp have been really unique, funny, and sometimes gross. Today they asked for guys and girls to volunteer for an activity involving cheetos. Some of the guys immmediately volunteered. They then told the girls to take off their shoes.
Immediately the guys realized that something was wrong and started trying to find a way out of participating in the activity they volunteered for. In the end, they were forced to eat cheetos fed to them by the girls via their feet.
The activity this morning was called "Polish Baseball", and involved running back and forth from a single base after hitting or kicking a ball.
In the afternoon there was another special activity called Pool Baseball. They set up a baseball diamond with inflatable swimming pools as the bases, and used a water balloon launcher and swimming pool sponge things for batting.
After a few innings of that, the diamond was converted into a sliding contest, where people tried to compete against each other in things like distance, spins, and style. By the end, everyone was doing crazy stuff like trying to slide through people's legs, and human bowling.
A large chunk of the evening was spent preparing for and serving in the "lovers banquet" put on for the parents, or "couples". Some other people had converted the dining hall into a really nice looking restraunt-ish place, and we worked as the waiters for the banquet. Everyone had to dress relatively nicely, and coordinate the food during the meal. We were assigned a partner of the opposite gender and a table to look after.
The guys had to escort the couples to their tables in the beginning, offering their arm to the ladies.
During the meal we fetched and refilled drinks, served food, cleared dishes, and did all sorts of little things for the people at our table.
When the banquet was over, my back was aching from all the standing. We all went over to the gym and took a group picture before getting changed and playing "human foosball".
Devotion notes and thoughts:
2 Samuel 13
David neglects his responsibilities as a father and does not punish Amnon for his actions. This causes Nathan's prophesy in 2 Samuel 12 to slowly come true.
1 Peter 4
Christians are called to live their lives differently than pagans, who choose to pursue their human desires. We should imitate Christ in all things.
It is a blessing to be insulted for the name of Christ, and an honor to suffer for bearing the name "Christian".
1 Peter 5
Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
A verse some modern day pastors and Christian leaders seem to either ignore or are ignorant of. I think Billy Graham is someone who lived out this verse, separating himself from the financial aspects of his organization.
Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
Just as any two numbers can be considered zero when compared to infinity, any two people are equal in insignificance when compared to God. We are all called to be humble servants of God and of each other.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
This brings back memories of a song we did for a musical at church when I was a small kid. I don't remember the name of the musical, but there was an anthropomorphic blue Bible named Salty. One of the songs we sang was called "Cares Chorus", and went
I cast all my cares upon You,
I lay all of my burdens down at Your feet.
And any time I don't know just what to do,
I will cast all my cares upon You.
It was one of my favorite songs as a kid.
