The temperature in the western United States has been soaring these days. In the evening when my dad, brother, and I went to Chestnut park for tennis and basketball, the temperature was 106. We're not sure if it was really 106, since I have a slight distrust towards the car thermometer, but it was still quite high.

Does the car thermometer really give an accurate temperature? What temperature does it read? Is it the temperature inside or outside?

I ask this because I've noticed that it fluctuates and changes very rapidly if you drive around.
