Record Flashmob

UCD had its first flashmob today, organized by some students on facebook. I didn't even know about it until I was standing around with Ross waiting for bible study at noon. Todd walked by and told us that something was going to happen. As soon as the "clocktower" bells rang, hundreds of students suddenly gathered.
Here's what happened:
When the bells rang, suddenly students started flocking to the ATM machines outside of the MU and started cheering and clapping. The people at the ATMs had no idea what was going on. After a bit, everyone started chanting "ATM! ATM! ATM!". Then, as suddenly as it had started, it ended, and everyone dispersed into random directions. For people who had no idea what was going on, it was probably pretty startling and random.
Two of the photos today, the ones showing a really long line, have nothing to do with the flashmob. Instead, I was walking by the ticket booth and noticed the extremely long line. After asking around, I learned that people were buying tickets to an upcoming concert by AFI... whoever they are... Haha.
Updated on Feburary 2, 2007: The flashmob made a front page story in the California Aggie (school newspaper). The article says that it set a record for the largest flashmob in the United States, and that there was a representative from the Guinness Book of World Records there. The record should appear in the 2008 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.
Here's the article:
