Got a haircut today. I've been going to the same place for a couple years now. After walking in today, it seemed like the lady hadn't ever had me as a customer before. She normally knows the lengths I want, but today it wasn't that way. I think she might have been distracted by something on her mind.

Funny thing is, I kept saying things like "same as last time", and she would silently have this hesitant, puzzled look that I could see in the mirror. Haha. I guess that's how things are when you see hundreds of people every week. Same with university professors.

If you had to change your name to any other name, what would you pick?

I would be something short, simple, and biblical I think. Either that or something that sounds like it came out of lord of the rings... but not gimli. or frodo... sam would be okay... legolas is kinda funky...

The names I would definitely NOT pick:

hugo, lester, nester, bob, adolf, bubba, ting ting, and the like. If anyone reading this is named one of these, please don't be offended. I wouldn't choose them because... they wouldn't match my last name very well.... They're fine names.

All except adolf. If you're named adolf, quick! Go change your name!

I looked back on this entry, and then looked up the Wikipedia article on adolf. It says,

Adolf, or Adolph, was a popular given name, especially in the German-speaking countries and in Scandinavia, but is rarely given today because of the association with Adolf Hitler. It derived from the Old High German Athalwolf, a composition of athal, or adal, meaning noble, and wolf, meaning wolf; in sequence, making Adolf another portmanteau. Compare Rudolf.

This, of course, led me to Rudolph (the red nosed reindeer)

Rudolph or Rudolf is a male first name, and, less commonly, a surname. It derives, via German, from the Old High German name Hrodulf, a composition of hruod-, meaning fame or glory, and wolf, meaning wolf. It is the same name as Hroğulf.

Now you're all smarter, eh?
