We dropped the girls back off at their apartment pretty late into the morning. By the time we got back to the guys apartment, everyone was asleep already. In the morning we met the girls at Noahs bagels at 10 for breakfast. Some people then went to class while Jim and I watched TV at the girls apartment.

In the afternoon, we drove wei wei and ditha to Berkeley Bowl, where they did their weekly shopping. They then collected all the stuff we needed from the girls place and we all headed over to joseph's apartment. Ditha and wei wei made us guacamole dip and fried rice, and then Jim and I headed back to Davis.

In the movie Good Will Hunting, Will says to a college student:

You wasted $150,000 on an education you coulda got for a buck fifty in late charges at the public library.

That sounds absurd, but isn't it true? I thought about it, and came to the conclusion that it's true.

A lot of people spend an enormous amount of money to go to an elite college, only to party, slack off, procrastinate, and waste away their time and education. A highly motivated person could purchase the exact same textbooks from any bookstore or website, study hard, do problems, and learn the same material.

The thing is, the system doesn't work that way. You need to pay a large amount of money to a good university, so future employers can feel confident that you are one of the smart students that the university failed to weed out.

Also, it's rare to find someone with enough determination to learn material for the material. In college, students often work for the grade, money, or both. In doing this, they neglect learning the material to the best of their abilities and instead try to win in the system. So, does this mean learning well and scoring poorly is better than learning poorly and scoring well? Probably not...

I think ideally a student should look to get the best grades they can through working the system while still absoring the material and reinforcing it with non-school related activities.

Just my two cents from reading Good Will Hunting quotes.

How do you like them apples?

looks like you had a nice time in berk.

well, in chapel monday and wed, the profs were doing their own thing up on stage, and they were telling us that 60% of college grads dont get a job in the field of their major. What job employers are really looking for are people who simply finish college, because it lets them know that you will finish what you start.
They said a lot more other good things but i'll leave it here for now.
