Noah Kagan hosted a wine tasting party in the TechCrunch house near Palo Alto tonight. I left Davis a little after 4, and got down to Silicon Valley without much traffic. Noah invited a lot of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, put out a table of food, and had wine donated by Bottlenotes. It went very smoothly.

After everyone arrived and everyone had time to grab some food, the wine tasting started. Everyone was split into groups, and six wines were sampled. We were each given a answer page with questions to answer. The best team and the best individual were awarded prizes. Since I can't legally drink wine, I had some sparkling pear cider for most of the night, and tasted a few drops from two of the wines.

A guy in our wine tasting group was named Max. On his nametag was the company "Slide". Only after the night ended did I discover that he was Max Levchin, co-founder of PayPal. James Hong, co-founder of the website HotOrNot, was also present.

I also met two Chinese, Christian guys. One was Jason Fang, Stanford grad and the Marketing & Business developer for startup socialPicks. The other was David Liu, UCLA student and founder of Faqqly. I spent a good amount of time talking to them.

The night wrapped up, and I left at about 9:30. I spent the night in Palo Alto at a family friend's house.

Good event Noah.
