We were planning on spending half a day at universal studios, and then the rest of the day in hollywood, but universal studios took too much time, so we'll have to visit hollywood tomorrow. The entrance tickets at universal studios are pretty expensive, and we didn't think they were worth it, until we went on the tour.

The tour definitely made the time there worthwhile. We got to see actual sets from movies and tv shows, hear lots of explainations about how things are done, and sit through demonstrations of various effects.

When we stopped on the set of an old mexican street, it started "raining", and suddenly there was a flash flood. We passed sets for houses in the grinch, the motel from psycho, and an amazing area where they filmed some scenes in war of the worlds. They actually took a real airplane and ripped it apart to make it seem like a plane crashed into a neighborhood.

Another interesting place we visited, was the area they film the house scenes for desperate housewives. While we were driving through, it felt like a real neighborhood. I've never seen the show, but lots of people were pointing out various houses.
