During my single class of the day, I looked forward to going to the ARC and playing basketball. When I got there at 3 something, there were people scattered all over the gym. We mustered ten people together and started playing five on five. Today's basketball didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped.

I started out the first game doing very well. I scored one or two baskets, and passed a few assists. The guy I was guarding was a short asian guy that wasn't THAT great. While I was guarding him from a pretty close distance, he tried to bullet a pass to a friend who was cutting through the lane.

The ball slammed into my left eye. I clutched my head for a few seconds, and then opened my eyes a little to make sure I could still see. It took a few minutes of sitting out before the stars I was seeing faded away. A few plays after I got back into the game, I stepped back onto a teammates foot, twisting my ankle a tiny bit. It stung for a while, but wasn't too bad.

My basketball success went downhill from there. The next few games my team lost, and the world seemed pretty blurry around me. By the time I left, I felt like my eyes were better, but when I walked out of the ARC, I noticed huge halos around the streetlamps. There's still parts of my peripheral vision that seem dark.

Thank you God, for protecting my eye from serious harm and permanent damage.
