If you've been dying to see what individual computer monitor pixels look like, then today your dreams have come true! I attended the sunday service at Berkland baptist for the first time today, but I didn't take any pictures before, during, or after the service. Maybe a few more times and I'll take a few pics.
The service itself was quite like what I'm used to every sunday, except for a few minor details. The worship music doesn't include drums, and the first few songs had continuous clapping by the congregation. The program runs a tad differently also, with announcements and welcoming before everything begins. I stood up and introduced myself. Then, there was a taking of tithes and offerings. I'm not too used to that, and it reminded me of camps that I've been to like CBM. The service starts at 1:30 in the afternoon, and ends around 3 something. They have a dinner afterwards too, but I went home and ate with my family.
There was a fly buzzing around my room, so I picked up my handy china-made mosquito zapper and started hunting the annoying little thing. A minute or two later I landed a nicely placed hit and, with a notable explosion, it fell to the ground. It lay there dead for a second or two, flipped over, and then took flight again.
Since I've gotten back from china, I've discovered that anything larger than a mosquito will survive a single swing from the electric swatter. I'm faily confident now, that my brother's fear of having a finger vaporized would not occur. Two more direct hits later, the fly was in a longer stunned state. The bigger the fly, the more jolts it takes to immobilize it.
Boy, summer is interesting.
Ah. A random little wikipedia fact...
Lacking eyelids, the flies continually clean their eyes with their forelegs. Most of their taste and smell sensor cells are on hairs on their legs, and that is why they also keep rubbing their legs together.
So that's why they do that stuff...
