Along The Beach

When we woke up, it was raining pretty hard, so we had to give up our plans of playing tennis. We just sat around inside until after breakfast, when all of us walked to the beach. Crossing big streets here is pretty scary, because cars don't even slow down for pedestrians.
The sand at the beach was really soft. There were jagged rocks on the side, where little pools of water were, and if you looked closely inside the pools you could see little animals including crabs and fish. After we had spent some time on the sand, we started walking along the walkway away from the beach. There was sculptures on the grass every once in a while, and at the end there was a sculpture museum. In front of the museum was a few toy horses. The man encouraged us to ride them, but didn't inform us that it was 10 yuan for 10 minutes until after my brother had started.
With sandy feet and sandals, we all walked back to the house. My brother immediately want to go play tennis, since the ground had slightly dried up. I didn't want to, but after a few of them left to play, I walked there to join them. My uncle bought the racquets for 500 or 600 US dollars a piece, but they're probably not worth that much in the US. One of his drivers acted as our ball boy, so that was pretty interesting. I don't think I've ever played tennis with a dedicated ball boy before.
Lunch then came around, so we went back to the house and I quickly took a shower and changed. The whole family drove to a restaurant where all their food dishes were lined up on tables and all their sea food was swimming around in tanks. You order whatever you want, and then they'll bring it up to your room. It's much more visual and informative compared to ordering off a menu. Before we went upstairs, we saw a display with two expensive foods: shark fin, and deer antler.
The meal was pretty good. I spent most of the beginning playing with the karaoke machine. A unique food that I ate was snail. It was those cone shelled snails you see in fish tanks. When we were full, we left and two of the three cars went to visit my uncle's Qungdao company offices. The third car took all the tired people home to rest. The office is on the 20 something floor of a skyscraper, and it has an exceptional view of the city and the sea. The whole place is very well designed, and the furniture is all really unique. From my uncle's office, you can see the area they're building for the boat sports in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He'll have a very nice seat for the Olympics from his own office.
Once we got back home, my brother went outside again to play tennis, and I again refused but then followed them. There was a lot of water on the ground from the sprinkling all day. We played tennis and badminton, while lots of the family watched.
After tennis, it was time for one of my Beijing uncle and cousin to leave. We all had a big goodbye and took a lot of pictures before they were driven off to the airport.
For dinner, it was a typical big family gathering around the round table, and there was three different meats on the table. One was chicken, another was fish, and there was a third I assumed was pork. I chose pork first, and got a really fatty slice of meat. After biting into it, I discovered it to be quite tough, so I gave it to my dad. Later on in the meal, I took another better piece. Since it was just meat, not fat or skin, it was easier to chew, but still took a long time. My dad then informed me that it was dog meat. My brother didn't touch it at all from that point, and I didn't eat any more of it.
