Point Reyes Outing

Today a lot of us went to the beach to hang out to celebrate the end of our pre-college education. Instead of Santa Cruz, we chose Point Reyes because it was closer. There was a lot of last minute planning and emails as usual, and I stayed back in davis until 12:30 to drive the second group of 7th perioders.
At first hannah couldn't go, but then her mom agreed to let her go if she drove herself and came back early at 8. We had planned to arrive home at midnight as a group. Anna moved over to hannahs car to provide her some company, and jim sat in mine.
The drive there was on a long windy road, but the scenery was very nice to look at. Turns out, the directions we were given led to a city, which was miles away from our site. We had no idea where we were supposed to go, so we followed the directions up a mountain. The little road up the mountain was the craziest road I've every driven. It was at times wide enough for only one car, and the slope was at an insane angle. Finally we got to the very top, and found ourselves at a dead end. We deliberated, and then drove back down.
Being lost was frustrating because none of our cell phones had reception in the hills. At the bottom, we drove for a while before seeing a policeman driving behind us. We put on our emergency signal and pulled onto the shoulder while waving madly at the cop. I ran over to his car, and he gave me two maps and the probable location of our friends. We finally found it. We paid for our parking permit, and then drove down to the beach where they were waiting.
After checking our supplies, we started running around and having fun. Jim kinda just sat around for a while at first, but then helped me bury rachel.
Ben and joe worked pretty hard at building the little wall of defense from the tide. Meanwhile, we buried jim under a massive amount of sand. The water was pretty cold, especially because of the wind after coming out. A few people walked over to a little stream and began to build a city along the edge.
As they were constructing, wei-wei, hannah and I began exploring the shoreline. After we were pretty far away from the beach, they discovered that there was a lot of shells under the water. They spent a while just collecting shells.
After they were done, we walked back to discover a few of them lying on the beach and trying to fake laugh. Anna noticed them, walked over, and showed them a laughing game where you put your head on someone elses stomach.
Here are pictures of anna, ben, hannah, phil, and jim jumping over the stream. The stream water came from a big pipe, and we could see the opening on the other side of the hill. Hannah decided to try and crawl through. She got pretty far, but about half way the pipe got narrow, so she crawl backwards and back back out. The others were still working on the fortress.
Luthia suddenly discovered a jellyfish floating in the water. She took a shovel and pulled it out of the water. As our group brought it onto land, a nearby family noticed and came over to look. Luthia poked around at the jellyfish, before they put it back in the ocean.
The girls suddenly left for some strange reason, stole our cars, and drove away. The guys just stayed on the beach and had fun while wondering where the girls went. The first thing was a little volleyball, but then our arms got sore so we played a game with two plastic things.
We then walked down the shoreline, where we discovered the mud was black. Instinctively, they smeared it all over themselves. When the girls finally came back, they were horrified to find the guys smearing black mud all over themselves. The savages then ran down the beach and chased anna. The mud kinda smell bad, but when they went into the water to try and wash it off, they found that it didn't come off easily. Still dirty, they took towels and wiped themselves dry.
It was then time for dinner, which was chicken wrapped in tortillas. There was a huge amount of bugs flying around while we got our food. Once the food was eaten, the girls revealed that they had actually gone off to buy everyone pies. They didn't know that both the boxes gave instructions to thaw the pies for two hours, so when we ate them they were pretty hard and cold. It was thoughtful though, so thanks dudettes.
The sun was setting, and the bugs were really starting to attack, so we cleaned up everything and loaded up the cars. Before leaving, we lay on the beach for a little bit longer.
As we walked off the beach, there was a skunk close by. It was the first time in my life I've seen a skunk, so that was pretty cool. I chased after it to take pictures, but it trotted back into the bushes.
The trip back was fun. We got lost and circled the dark mountain road back and forth before finally finding the road we wanted. It took three hours to get back, and instead of watching a movie at someones house like we planned to, we went home to sleep and get ready for graduation practice tomorrow at 8:30 in the morning.
