My brother had his birthday party today in chestnut park. There wasn't really any planned activities besides the normal birthday stuff, and a pinata. The party was for two hours from 2 to 4, and 7 people showed up. They played basketball and soccer most of the time. His birthday is actually next tuesday, the 7th.

At the party store, the pinatas were 11 dollars for a number, and since it was going to be destroyed in a few whacks anyway, we bought a 9, symbolically for doing away with the nine and bringing in the 10. We're cool like that.

When we finally used the pinata, in just a couple hits the bottom ripped open and candy poured out. I quickly ran and salvaged the bottom of the nine, and shoved the remaining candy deeper inside. Using amazing engineering skills, I reconstructed the damaged nine, by tying it back together with string.

Soon, the bottom half of the nine almost ripped open again, I flipped the pinata upside down, and redid the setup, so had a fresh bottom, although it no longer resembled a number. Finally, all the kids cycled through a few times, and we let it onto the ground, and the pounced on the number carcass like a school of piranhas, and almost immediately removed all it's innards.

Happy Birthday Isaac.

Near where we were having our party, there was a building with its doors open, and drumming could be heard from inside. I've heard taiko drumming before, but today today was the first time I've seen and heard them practice. It greatly increased my respect for the drumming, and it was amazing seeing little children pound away with the adults and know exactly what they're playing during the long songs. Everyone kept going to the doorway and watching them play.
