Wendy Weitzel
Managing editor

Wendy Weitzel, who joined The Enterprise in 1998, edits and assigns stories, and designs the front page, Sunday feature, business and automotive sections. Her column, Comings and Goings, keeps track of local business changes. She's regarded as the paper's design cop, having overseen its redesigns in 2005 and 1999. She led the staff to a first-place award in 2001 from the California Newspaper Publishers Association for page layout and design. She is a member of Soroptimist International of Davis. Weitzel and her husband, Scott, spend their free time in Davis with their two young sons. Scott, a UC Davis grad, is a toxicology researcher at UC Davis. Derrick Bang
Entertainment editor

Enterprise entertainment editor Derrick Bang, author of 2000's popular and critically praised "50 Years of Happiness: A Tribute to Charles M. Schulz," in early 2004 released his second book about Schulz, this one focusing on the cartoonist's early work after returning home from his WWII service: "Charles M. Schulz: Li'l Beginnings." Derrick fled the greater Los Angeles basin to attend Northern California's UC Davis, loved the area, and decided to remain as a full-time resident after graduating in June 1977. To fill those hours when he wasn't busily writing for any newspaper or magazine foolish enough to publish him, he founded The Game Preserve, a retail Davis game-and-puzzle store, in September 1978. Derrick kept his shop open for just over 18 years, and finally closed the business in January 1997, when he took over the full-time position as entertainment editor for The Enterprise. Derrick has written film, television, Internet and general entertainment commentary for all three Davis/Woodland area newspapers since 1974, and still supplies regular columns and features to The Enterprise. (Unlike most editors, he enjoys writing.) He also handles freelance writing and research assignments for Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates, and writes and edits the newsletter for the Charles M. Schulz Museum, in Santa Rosa, California. Derrick lives in Davis with his wife, Gayna, and two preternaturally precocious pets. Reach him at dbang@davisenterprise.net.

Wayne Tilcock
Photo editor

Wayne Tilcock serves as photo editor for The Enterprise. His main responsibility is shooting daily assignments but he is also in charge of maintaining the photo department files and handling reprints. He began studying photography while with the California Aggie student newspaper in the summer of 1997 before joining The Enterprise a year later. Wayne graduated from the UCD College of Engineering in 2001 and can be seen roaming the sidelines of most local sporting events. Reach Wayne at mailto:photo@davisenterprise.net

Crystal Ross O'Hara
Reporter

Crystal Ross O'Hara joined The Davis Enterprise in 1996 as an intern and began covering higher education in 1997. From 1998 to 1999 she was an associate editor at The Enterprise and then spent two years in public relations. O'Hara returned to The Enterprise in February 2001 to the higher education beat. She now works part-time covering social services, health and issues related to children. Originally from Texas, O'Hara moved to the area in 1992 and married a Davis native. She graduated from California State University, Sacramento, in 1997 with a degree in journalism. She is a member of Soroptimist International of Davis. Reach her at cohara@davisenterprise.net.

C. Colton
Reporter
Carlsbad native (no, not the Caverns, that's in New Mexico) C. Colton, 26, has been spinning his tales of sports brilliance at the Davis Enterprise since May 2000. He had a yearlong stint of covering rodeo and avoiding flying cow dung in the fertile Eastern Washington town of Ellensburg at the Daily Record newspaper. A 1999 graduate of the esteemed (in some circles anyway) University of the Pacific, Colton enjoys honing his craft, writing creatively, pretending to be a rock star with his dusty old bass guitar, getting schooled by high school kids in basketball, and hiking (if the conditions are pristine and there's no mud and stuff). Moonlighting as a professional surfer, a TV weatherman or running a hip-hop falaffel house are still career aspirations. Reach him at ccolton@davisenterprise.net

Greg Rihl
Photographer

Greg Rihl is a photographer for The Davis Enterprise. He is a 1999 graduate of Rio Americano High School, where he spent most of his time studying photography. He is enrolled at Sacramento City College and hopes to transfer to San Jose State University. He arrived at the paper in August 2000, after completing an internship at the Mountain Democrat in 2000. He earned a first-place award in 2001 from the California Newspaper Publishers' Association for his photo essay on a Davis teen's battle with bone cancer. He plans to continue his career in photojournalism, with hopes of someday shooting for National Geographic magazine. Until then, he will have to settle for his favorite assignment: photographing Sacramento Kings games. Reach Greg at photo@davisenterprise.net.

Sharon Stello
Reporter

Sharon Stello, 26, came to The Davis Enterprise as the UC Davis reporter in June 2003 after working for a year at the Daily Democrat in Woodland. Stello grew up in Southern California and earned a bachelor's degree in print journalism from USC. While in college, she was an intern at the Daily Breeze in Torrance. After graduating in 2000, she worked as a reporter at The Union Democrat in Sonora and later moved to Davis. When she finds time, Stello enjoys playing volleyball, hiking, rock climbing, playing clarinet and flute, listening to country music, watching movies and spending time with friends. She plans to stay in the Davis area and is excited to learn more about the community. Reach her at sstello@davisenterprise.net.

Bob Dunning
Columnist

Bob Dunning has worked at The Davis Enterprise in parts of five decades. Hired as a part-time sports stringer in late 1969, Dunning became sports editor full-time in January 1970. After several years as sports editor and a twice-a-week sports columnist, Dunning began his daily Page 2 column in 1976. Dunning writes about the world around him in his beloved City of All Things Right and Relevant. "Davis is a target-rich environment," he explains. Dunning's family includes wife Shelley, son Ted, and daughters Erin, Maev, Molly, and Emme. Reach Bob at mailto:bdunning@!davisenterprise.net>%20<A%20HREF=
