An article about me showed up in the scene section of todays Sacramento Bee. The first mention I heard was from a guy in my first period class. When I got out to break, phil had a copy so they took a picture with it for me to post today. It was pretty cool seeing pictures from this blog published and written about.

They didn't include the picture of alp and joseph sleeping, though they originally requested it. I have a class in the computer lab twice every normal day, and the teacher presented the article as a "current event" both periods today. Here's the online version of the article:

Everyone knew the yearbooks were going to be distributed today, and at lunch luthia came up to us with the first yearbook we saw. She works in the staff, so everyone crowded around and we all tried to get a glimpse while she flipped through. Finally everyone who ordered one went over to the desks and picked theirs up. Joseph had "fatmadbat" put as his name on his. I was lazy and didn't order one in the beginning of the year, but luthia's going to get me special pricing on one, so thanks luthia.

How about a stream of thought?

Fame, wealth, and success are never by our own doing, but by the grace of God. As living sacrifices for his purpose, we take joy in obediently and humbly following the will of Christ Jesus our LORD. Our purpose is to justify the heavy price Jesus paid to redeem us, which was his pure and holy blood poured out for us and his ultimate death on the cross. His life was focused on the purpose of serving the world, and he was obedient to the point of death.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross! -- Philippians: 5-8

For this reason, we should be obedient to the point of death to ourselves. We seek daily to accomplish his purposes, for his glory and benefit, and not our own.

Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. -- John 4:35

The world is ready for harvest. The grain is falling off the stalks. However great my earthly achievements may be now or in the future, what lasting benefit is there? Do I put everything I've accumulated into a uhaul and take it with me after I die?

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind
-- Casting Crowns

Therefore, I'll take no personal pride in the blessings God chooses to give me, whether money, power or fame, and will try to use them to the best of my abilities to fufill his purposes in my life and in doing so, glorify him. What better way to use this blog's publicity is there, than to proclaim the truths of Jesus Christ?

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes... -- Romans 1:16

And what a mighty power that is.

For some reason, Dits portrait turned out to be blurry. Everyone says she accidentally chose the "glamor" shot.

Phil mentioned today, that he heard the same helicopter circle overhead last night. When I got home, I found a mention of it in the paper. They were looking for a guy that was possibly suicidal with a gun. Interesting.

Comments

hm. interesting. they used a helicopter for an unarmed suicidal man. thought itd be more exciting than that. oh well, its probably a good thing
