A new restraunt called Shangri-La Restaurant opened up nearby, and it serves a lunch buffet, so my brother and I went to try it out today. It wasn't too great. There was a total of ten normal things on a cart, and the other cart was just "dessert", but there wasn't much on it that you normally eat for dessert.

When we walked in, I looked at the prices and tried to hand the person ten bucks, before being reminded that I pay after we eat. Feeling stupid, I walked over and we started piling food on a plate... except there wasn't much piling, because there wasn't that much variety. I got two kinds of meat, some roll, and some noodle. One of the meats was pretty spicy, so it tainted my plate. The roll didn't have much taste... and there was some random spice favors sometimes when eating the noodle.

My brother seemed to like the place though.

After our first plate, we went over to the other cart and took a look at the dessert. I noticed a big bowl of pudding, so I was a bit happier. I took a plate and scooped two fat spoonfuls, and then took a huge bite out of it. Turns out it was actually a bowl of mayonnaise. Who puts out a bowl of mayo like that? Are we supposed to eat it with the salad? There wasn't any salad dressing there. Man. I had to swallow the fat bite I had, and a waiter nearby noticed what I had done. She took the plate away from me, and I got a new one. The only normal things on the second cart were pineapple and peach slices. The pineapple was hard and didn't really have a taste, and the peaches were decent.

Shangri-La Restaurant Buffet:

I probably wouldn't recommend the place to anyone, unless they add a second cart and actually get some real desserts. I was excited, and thought maybe it would be a cheap place my friends and I could sometimes go to during lunch break. Guess not.

In the afternoon, my brother and I went outside to play some soccer. Soon we noticed all the tall grass and insects around us, and before we even kicked the ball to each other once, we threw the ball back in and decided to just explore.

We went around looking at the butterflies, and tried to catch them with our hands, but soon we found it was nearly impossible, and we weren't aiming to crush them into powder anyways. There wasn't any butterfly nets we could use, but I remembered we had a small fish net my dad uses on our fish tank. I went and got it, and so we had a small mini net to catch stuff with.

Right away, we caught a white butterfly, then a fly, then a bee, and from then on, we simply stalked and caught monarch butterflies. We probably looked funny with a camera and a fish net running around in the field. I was still in my tshirt and pajama pants, running around in basketball shoes trying to get pictures of my brother. To get good pictures every time we saw a butterfly, I had to run around in a large circle, to avoid having my movements scare the thing away.

When we first caught a bee, we discovered that bees are quite stupid. If you put the net upside down with the bee in it, and the bottom isn't covered, the bee won't realize it can just fly down and leave. It just keeps on trying to fly up, into the net covering it. We were pretty scared at first that it would fly out and puncture us to death. When we finally let it go, I threw the net aside and my brother and I ran away from it like babies. Looking at it after a bit, the bee was still inside, so I gave it a flick and it flew away. Wheew.

Real men catch butterflies and bees with fish nets.

We had an unofficial tennis practice today, and just a few members of the team went and hit around for a while. I'm really rusty from going to mexico and not playing for over a week. Near the end, we got together and practiced the cheer we stole from los gatos. It's nothing special, but we only had six people join in today. If we got the whole team and did it, it would be more impressive. You can take a look:

What time is it? Game time!
What time is it? Game time!
What are we going to do? Beat Jesuit!
What are we going to do? Beat Jesuit!
One two three! Davis!

We plan to do this at matches, no matter how many people we have. Imagine this cheer with only two members. We practiced that too.
