Vacaville Match

Today was a crummy day from the very beginning. I finally got to present my informative speech today in public speaking class. After giving the speech, it got picked apart by the teacher while sitting in front of the class for constructive criticism. That was still fine with me though.
During class, we were also supposed to pick topics for our next speech, which will be persuasive. She asked us to write down two topics onto a half sheet of paper and turn it in. I only thought of one topic, which was the argument that cell phones should be allowed on at school. When I got it back at the end of class, it was crossed out and said, "Not a significant issue". I then asked if I could argue that the drinking age should be lowered (lots of reasonable arguments), but for some reason, she has something against alcohol, and started smashing my ideas into tiny bits.
An assistant near her said someone did a speech about whether the moon landing was real. I then asked if I could do a speech about whether paul is dead. She smashed that one up too. The rest of what happened is quite similar, but I don't feel like writing it all out. She gave me a bad start to my day. I was supposed to go to the room at lunch and think of some reasonable topic, "outside the box of my brain". When I went at lunch, the room was locked, and it said the class was somewhere else.
Noone else agrees with me. They like her, because she likes them, so they work hard and follow her instructions. I don't really like her, which causes me to not try as hard, which makes her not really like me, which makes me not want to try hard. I guess its a complicated catch 22 that makes no sense. Im in second semester senior year anyways.
In networking class, I took a panoramic picture of the classroom from where I sit. I like panoramics, because they give you a better idea of what the location actually looks like.
I think I'm kinda grumpy today. I was kinda sick today, but sicker yesterday.
In statistics, we had a sub today. He acted like some marine drill instructor or something. When Alp walked into the classroom near the beginning, I got up and motioned to him. We ran at each other and did an awesome manly chest bump. The sub got up and came towards us, quickly biting off both our heads in one swift motion.
Luckily, we had to go in a few minutes for our tennis match. He wouldn't even let us go easy, but we finally convinced him that we were actually on the tennis team and we actually had a match in vacaville. The class helped out too.
We didn't have vans for our match in vacaville today. Instead we got rides from random drivers. I thought I was going to play Thomas Jenson, but Jason came, so I played this guy that I played last year.
Last year, I split sets with him. I can't play him at all, because of his pushy style of playing. He doesn't hit hard at all, and doesn't hit anywhere other than the center of court, but he always seems to return even the best hit shots. He took me to three sets again, and finally beat me in the third. I was pretty annoyed. Urg. Everyone was done really soon, and just sat around watching me lose to the weakest player i've played this year so far. Joseph says this ranks up there with the lob drop shot that lost me a match when we were in fresno.
I took a panoramic while everyone was warming up on the courts there.
Once we got back to the parking lot in josephs van, I stayed around for quite a while talking with him and his mom, about a variety of issues, including the dress code issue that's been circulating in our church.
I've always confused Kevin Bacon and Willem Dafoe. They look pretty similar. I've considered Dafoe an awesome actor ever since I saw the movie Platoon.
It's an awesome movie, with an awesome story, and an awesome cast. Dafoe is the friendlier of two sergeants, with Tom Berenger as the evil one. They both command their own little factions, and the soldiers beneath them take sides. It's a pretty emotional movie that deals with moral issues. I recommend it. Both leading actors are awesome in their roles.

Here's a little thing from wikipedia: It won Academy Awards for Best Director, Best Film Editing, Best Picture and Best Sound. It was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Tom Berenger), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Willem Dafoe), Best Cinematography and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.
Maybe I just like war movies or something. I'd give saving private ryan five stars too. I've seen it a million times.

Cindy Hall on February 17, 2007 02:49 PMYou may want to do an exchange program with a country like Austria, where the drinking and smoking ages are 16.
