Today was our departure for the fresno tennis tournament, or the central california championships. Before leaving, we still had a league match with Armijo. Joseph and I dressed up in our 89 cent salvation army blazers just for fun, but before the match joseph went and bought some african cap too.
We both looked like freaks, but its really fun that way. I wore my nasty brown jacket, a bathrobe belt as a tie, along with my famous hat, sunglasses, and an adidas wristband around my upper arm. Joseph wore his nasty gray jacket, an african tribal hat, fingerless "warcraft" gloves, and aviator sunglasses. It was funny seeing everyone staring at us through my shades. Once again, I was called "his majesty" during introductions.
Since my opponent was very weak, the match should have been overkill in my favor. Instead, I didn't have any feel for the ball, and the dude almost beat me the first set, before I came back and crush him. I was one of the last matches on the court, and everyone was waiting for us so we could leave for fresno.
After the matches, we said our goodbyes, packed the vans, and started our journey. It was a multi-hour trip, so there was a lot of random talking, music, and randomness in the vans. We learned that group massages were awesome, social events, and that just because you give a teammate a friendly massage doesn't mean you're gay, as immature people would have you believe. We definitely broke gender stereotypes, but there wasn't girls around, so oh well.
A long while into the trip, we pulled off the freeway to get dinner. That's when I was introduced to the wonders of Quiznos. Quiznos is awesome. Very awesome. Awesome and good. When everyone was ordering food, Alp went and claimed he could break into the bathrooms, much like the dos coyote ones. It was a different kind of lock, but he stuck his insurance card into the crack, slid it around, and popped the door open. How awesome is that. This is also when I was introduced to the wonders of the Quiznos clam chowder. It's awesome. Very awesome. It has such a unique taste, and goes along great with a hot sandwhich.
Dinner was soon over, and we walked a few blocks to our van, and started heading towards our hotel. We stayed at the crossland hotel, like last year. Us seniors had to go with Dale to the registration desk and show our drivers licences. When we got back outside, we played some tag, and the guys did a lot of chest jump smashing.
We went up to our rooms and settled in. I roomed with joseph and eric, and there was the coach, and two other rooms with guys on either side of us. The dudes played xbox, read school books, and did homework. Late into the night, Joseph, eric and I went on a journey to see if there was anything good at the theaters we could watch. Outside our room, near the elevator, we found a luggage roller thing. We took it downstairs on the elevator, and rolled it past the registration room, with the person on it ducking just enough so he couldn't be seen through the window. Taking it into the parking lot, we pushed it with someone sitting down at high speeds. The steering was pretty great, and it was quite stable.
When we got to the theater, it was close to 11, and everything that was good had already started. We just walked back to the hotel and did more random stuff, before falling asleep while watching tv. Nothing good was on.
